JUST SEX

JR: In high school it was just sex. It didn’t make a difference if it was with a girl or a guy. (laughs)

Lauren: Yeah.

JR: Hate to say that but, back in that time even after I got out of high school it was - it didn’t matter to me. And I can’t - I don’t know, everybody says “you were bisexual.” I don’t think I was bisexual I just liked sex

Lauren: Yeah

JR: So it didn’t make any difference.

JR: There was combat, but I wasn’t involved in the combat area.

Lauren: Okay.

JR: I was, you know, they always took me away because I had all this knowledge. They didn’t want – they was afraid if – back then if you were gay they got you out right away because they were worried that you would divulge the secrets in your field because they thought that would be a – that you’d be afraid to tell anybody because you didn’t want them to know you were gay.

Lauren: But at this time, you weren’t identifying as gay. No?

JR: Oh, no no no. Not that I didn’t have gay activity, don’t get me wrong but I wasn’t -

Lauren: Oh you were having sex with men?

JR: Yeah, men, yeah. I had kind of a going relationship with a Lieutenant. (laughs) First Lieutenant. He was in training too. We’d see each other. Not in a lover relationship, but just kind of, every now and then type thing.
